Fundamental purposes

1) Providing resources for sales folks to maximize their potential

UST provides resources for career-minded sales folks. These resources focus on issues and challenges that professional sales executives face that are typically not written about in traditional sales publications. Initially the resources will be blogs and publications. In the future we plan on expanding to video. At UST we believe that conventional sales training along specific product, industry and competitive training are only part of the picture. In order to maximize your potential you must develop a strong foundation. This foundation is based on 5 UNIVERSAL SALES TRUTHS that stand the test of time. Regardless of the product or service you represent; in order to be the best you can be– these “TRUTHS” should be adhered to.

Did you ever lose business when you were sure you had the best product, best service and price? Chances are you broke one of the UST’s.

The objective is to pass on the wisdom of successful 25+ year career sales execs. In this way viewers of this site can accelerate their careers without learning everything from the school of hard knocks.

In addition, UST seeks input from senior executives; people that deal with sales folks on a regular basis. We provide information on how these executives prefer to be called on. Since these executives are making the buying decisions, this insight is extremely valuable.

2) Starting in sales and ending in sales might be an excellent career choice

At UST we sincerely believe that for the right person, pursuing a career as a professional sales executive is a wonderful decision. We don’t believe that sales need to be a stepping stone to “higher” aspirations. It can be the FINAL stop in your career. And that’s OK. The skills that you develop in the field of sales will certainly prepare you to move up the ladder or even start your own business. But if you are successful running your own sales territory, enjoy the flexibility and freedom it affords,–then why not continue to do what you do best?

This does not mean you stay with the same company for your entire career. We believe that a professional sales exec should continue to re-evaluate his or her situation. And based on a thorough evaluation, make a decision to stay or move on. A successful sales executive with strong relationship in a particular region has significant value. Maintaining these business relationships should be high on your priority list.
